We check in on our best and brightest these days, and Squigs, Happy Hour Guy, incredible-palate and Broadway Line Artist Extraordinaire, stops in for a chat. What are we all drinking? Can you still get a commission from Squigs? And most importantly, are we all wearing pants? Join us.
COVID Conversation #4: Loycent Gordon, and Neir's Tavern!
Our COVID conversation series continues with this powerful conversation with the man who singlehandedly lead the charge to save Neir’s, NYC's oldest bar (by some accounts). Loy Gordon is an amazing human being whose ability to speak his truth inspired a movement, and continues to inspire. Click through and enjoy. This one is a don't miss.
COVID Convo #3: Gun Hill Brewing.
Time to start checking in on some of our favorite breweries, to see how they're handling the fallout from the COVID19 pandemic. Dave Lopez, co-Owner of Gun Hill Brewing in the Bronx, takes some zoom time away from his newborn daughter Darcy to answer our questions. And, Jimmy gets a beer delivery! Join us.
COVID Convo #2: Julia Herz of the Brewers Association!
As the shutdown continues and communities (and especially BEER communities) look toward reopening, changing, and surviving, Mark and Jimmy welcome a treasured guest to the show - Julia Herz, the Craft Beer Program Director at the Brewer's Association, a national nonprofit trade group that represent the majority of craft brewers in the United States. How does she see the Craft Beer landscape changing? What kind of world are we headed for? Press play and let's chat.
Alewife Brewpub: Let's ketchup, six feet apart.
Catch up? Ketchup? There’s a word for it around somewhere….
And why ALEWIFE?
In these times, why show video of gathering to drink absolutely terrific beer? Because, during these days of social distancing, it has perhaps NEVER been more important to support our Local, and our Local Craft friends. Many still offer curbside pickup; if your state allows it, order online and have it delivered; but our friends need us more than ever.
The Happy Hour Guys look back on 2019 (and Mad Princes)!
Our yearly tradition continues with an added bonus, a visit to Pennsylvania’s Mad Princes Brewing!
Once again, we celebrate where we’ve been in the vast landscape of American Craft. What we’ve seen, what we’ve sampled, and most importantly, the people we’ve met. What a year for us, with visits to states across the Union:
We also managed to accomplish the FIFTH beer in the Broadway Brews Project, a collaboration with Come From Away and Five Boroughs Brewing, to benefit the wonderful folks at Tuesday’s Children. Now streaming on the STAGE NETWORK!
2019 was a fantastic year, and 2020 looks incredibly exciting, with Mark winging his way across the USA on a National Tour, and Jimmy holding down the fort on the Eastern Seaboard. Can’t wait. Enjoy our lookback on a wonderful year.
You look GREAT for 190: Neir's Tavern.
THE WEEKEND IS HERE! (ALMOST)… And even if you think you know New York, the truth is, you never quite know…you know?
Hidden gems. History. No city offers up secrets and surprises ‘across the bar’ like NYC.
To that end, we present: NEIR’s:
Join us as we plumb the depths of this neighborhood institution that has stood the test of time like only a handful of bars have: Over 190 years worth.
We have a challenge for you: Who’s headed out this weekend? Prove to us that you stopped by Neir’s this weekend (pics or it didn’t happen, tagging us (@happyhourguys) and Neir’s (@NeirsTavern) and we’ll send you some swag!
And COME ON BY FOR THEIR 190th BIRTHDAY, coming up on October 5th, 2019! We’ll be there, and we hope to see as many of you as possible. Cheers!
