At long last Mark and Jimmy do an episode together IN PERSON for the first time since the pandemic, (at least 6 feet apart the entire time). And what a return, as we hang out with our pals at Sloop Brewing in East Fishkill, NY. The Hudson Valley is flowing with amazing craft beer, and at the very source of the juicy IPA spring is their flagship brew, Juice Bomb. Join us!
At Home On The Road: The Alpha MI Brewing Company.
Jimmy returns to his old stomping grounds in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan for the first time in over 35 years... and there's a brewery in Alpha! Deep in the heart of Mastadon Township in Iron County, well down the road from Crystal Falls, the tiny village of Alpha, Michigan, is far and away the smallest village in the entire United States with its own craft brewery.
How could we NOT cover these fine folk? Enjoy.
COVID conversation: Heading to Iowa, and Wise I Brewing!
One of the greatest ways for us to discover new places has always been through a shared love of great flavor and innovation. To that end, it's our great pleasure to introduce Happy Hour Nation to Wise I Brewing in Le Mars, Iowa!
COVID Convo #1: Ohio, and Scotty's here!
In the face of an incredibly changed world, The Happy Hour Guys keep on keepin' on. Time for some COVID conversations!
We start with a reunion of our 'Original Three' Happy Hour Guys, and a look back to simpler days. Also there’s an update on where everybody is, and some fine brews being made in the Midwest including Seventh Sun Brewing in Columbus, OH.
Let’s zoom it up, y'all - Scotty's here!
Alewife Brewpub: Let's ketchup, six feet apart.
Catch up? Ketchup? There’s a word for it around somewhere….
And why ALEWIFE?
In these times, why show video of gathering to drink absolutely terrific beer? Because, during these days of social distancing, it has perhaps NEVER been more important to support our Local, and our Local Craft friends. Many still offer curbside pickup; if your state allows it, order online and have it delivered; but our friends need us more than ever.
Just another day of (Barrel) Unicorns: Barbarian Brewing.
Boise, Idaho. It’s a shibboleth! (Look it up.) And while you’re at it, make plans to GET YOURSELF TO BOISE, because you may not see these straight up terrific beers anywhere else. Born of sheer will, funk, sporadic spontaneous fermentation and barrel staves, the Barbarian Brewing flavor parade is long and ever changing. James Long and Bre Hovley are throwing a welcome series of curve balls in a world dominated by hops and haze. Follow the unicorns, folks - they’ll take you to amazing places.
And big thanks to our capture crew for the day - Kristen Beth Williams, Sky Seals, Rachel Kaufman, Gabe Aronson, Sean Michael Buckley, John Brown, and Kurt Jenkins. Enjoy!
Creating community (and a bunch of medals): Walking Tree Brewery.
On Florida’s Treasure Coast, every now and then, gold washes up on the beach. And sometimes, it pours out of the taps! Walking Tree Brewery is barely 3 years old, and from local contests to national (GABF) their beers are winning medal after medal - very few startup craft brewers we've ever met have garnered this many accolades in such a short period of time.
As luck would have it, Vero Beach is also home to Riverside Theatre, where Jimmy just happened to be playing Henry Higgins opposite Kristen as Eliza Doolittle - and on this fine day, the cast and crew (and JAKE!) came out to help with the shoot. Join The Happy Hour Guys out by the former Naval Air Station, where this brewery, in the words of their bartending staff, "is taking names!"
