If awards can be any indication of how innovative and interesting a brewer is, just before we shot at Perennial they won yet another gold medal at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival. At this 'yeast forward' brewery they do things their own way, and with a sense of style unlike anyone else we've ever met. Press play to meet the staff and have a close encounter with... ABRAXAS. Also a huge thank you to Lindsay Van Winkle for handling main camera op duties. Enjoy!
Episode #318: Tributary Brewing.
Jimmy, Mark, and Jennifer are in Maine to visit an old acquaintance, Tod Mott, who with his wife and business partner Galen has opened Tributary Brewing Company in Kittery, just across the river from Portsmouth, NH. Tod definitely qualifies in the categories of 'Good TV' as well as 'Rockstar Brewer', having brought IPA to Harpoon Brewing in 1992, and Imperial Stout to Portsmouth ("P Brew") in 1996. And wouldn't you know it, The Happy Hour Guys just happened to show up one day before the release of a certain world renowned Imperial Stout...(funny thing, that!) Click play for more, and enjoy!
Video #317: Drink Glacier!
We have The Happy Hour Gal to thank for this one: Kristen Ludwig was doing theatre at the Alpine Theatre Festival in Whitefish, Montana, and made it a mandate that The Guys shoot at a festival favorite, Glacier Distilling, situated on the very threshold of one of America's most stunningly beautiful National Parks. Press play for a peek into a company making some terrific spirits - run, don't walk, to visit this one; or rather, Bev-Tour! Cheers!
Video #316: Spider Bite Beer, Long Island.
As the Long Island Craft Beer scene continues to blow up, Mark and Jimmy visit one of those that helped lead this Revolution, just to the east of New York City. Spider Bite beer has been making incredible stuff since 2008, and they have a ton of accolades to show for it. Join us for a peek at their new tasting room... and some BORIS THE SPIDER! Cheers!
Video #315: Back to business - Balcones Whiskey.
In this moment, there's a distillery under a bridge in Waco, Texas. In a tiny space, Balcones is doing things their own way and making whiskey that is, simply put, blowing peoples' minds. They've had a tough year legally; but now, finally they're looking towards the future. Press play for a look at some liquids that you're going to want to get your hands - and your mouth on. Cheers!
Video #314: Bigger in Texas! - Community Beer Co.
The Guys (and the Gal) make a stop in Dallas, TX to take in Community Beer Co, a brewery that has brought home multiple gold medals from the Great American Beer Festival in just a few years' existence. In fact, they've won gold in a single category two years in a row, a rare feat indeed. Are things really bigger in Texas? Click play to find out, and a big thank you to Happy Hour Gal Kristen Beth for great camera work. Cheers!
Video #313: THHG at Lagunitas - The Farm.
Following up on our overview episode at Lagunitas from a few months back, here's a companion piece; highlighting not only their hyper-local philosophy, but also Lagunitas' mandate to protect the little guy. Talk about an organization that puts their money where their mouth is. Press play for some late day NorCal sun, belly laughs and a lot of good thoughts. Cheers!
